Thrifty Car Rental - Sanford Orlando International Airport - SFB - Florida - USA
Unverified Renter Reviews
Thrifty are not the best
I was so disappointed with some of the service I recently received in Florida when I rented a car via Thrifty - starting at Sanford Orlando and also at West Palm Beach International Airports.
I booked a convertible car as a treat for my family as this makes a trip to the USA special. The booking showed a Camero which would have been perfect. On arrival at Sanford we were told that "ALL customers were disappointed at the moment as we have hardly any convertibles" and the only car available was an 35000+ miles Mustang. We have rented a Mustang before and wanted something different but there was no other choice so we took the white 'banger' noting that it was scratched and dented and high mileage'.
We were talked into paying extra for even more insurance than we already had.
After a day of rental, the front tire went down and an alarm sounded. We went to the nearest gas station, paid $1.50 to pump it up and it went down again the next day. Back to the gas station, another $1.50.
We tried to call the number on the rental agreement but with only a few minutes remaining on our UK phones we were cut off and resorted to Twitter to contact Thrify. The response from the Twitter team was quick and polite and they told me that someone would call us, even though it was an UK number. We waited and pumped the tire up again (another $1.50) and waited and messaged via Twitter again. Eventually we were told (via Twitter) that we could take the car to West Palm Beach (not local for us but nearer that Sanford) and a new car would be waiting for us. West Palm Beach had no idea we were coming.
We arrived at West Palm Beach to an almost empty parking lot and were advised by the desk staff that there was a huge problem with getting hold of any cars, let alone convertibles, and we had to settle for a very ordinary and dull Hyundai.
If you do not have a USA phone, don't even think about taking out breakdown insurance as you cant contact anyone any other way other than phone!
Do not rent from thrifty
Do not use this car company, they are complete rip off merchants. Me and my husband travel to the states regularly. We used Thrify car hire this time and travelled to Miami. There was a road going in that had no tolls or off road that is apparently a sunshine pass road (sat nav took us this way) you must be billed if you havent got a pass which is fair enough as thrifty were billed 6 x 1.5 dollars (3 lights going in and 3 coming out) Reasonable that they would charge us an admin fee? absolutely as they paid this for us. But guess what, even though all 3 charges were incuured at the same time Thrifty thought it was fair to charge us 15 dollars for each one dollar 50 charge!!!!!! total tol charges 9 dollars Thrify admins chages 90 dollars. This is by far the last time that my family (and friends if I can help it) will ever use this rip off company. Do yourselves a favour and use another car company, in my experiences they do not rip you off as much as this company will.
Do not rent from Thrifty!
Do not walk past all of the other rental counters to reach this place! This is the worst experience I've ever had with a car rental agency. You will wind up paying as much as you would with a much better place. Stick with Hertz or Enterprise. On what planet is a Chevy cruise a full sized car? These people are shady and the lines are too long. Do not rent here.
Rented full size car from Thrifty Sanford Airport Florida. Reservation was for Nissan Altima or Chryler 300 .We ended up with Kia Optima with over 53,000..Tires wee unsafe the seats had large stained and the car had not been cleaned in months..Tried to get another car but line was crazy so called when we got to Tampa ,someone was to get back to us on our problem but didn't
